The Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company’s financial reporting and technical accounting processes. This role involves researching complex accounting issues, implementing new accounting standards, and preparing financial statements. The Manager will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the integrity of financial information and support the Director of Technical Accounting & Reporting in maintaining robust financial reporting practices.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Accounting:

  • Research and interpret complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide guidance and draft memos on technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, equity transactions, capitalized software, inventory, and financial instruments.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Operations, and Product teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies for new contracts and business arrangements.
  • Assist in documentation and maintenance of critical accounting policies (e.g., revenue, refunds and chargebacks, equity transactions, inventory, and other topics).
  • Implement new accounting standards and ensure their proper application across the organization.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Assist with M&A due diligence and Post Merger Integrations (PMI).

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, statements of changes in equity, and footnotes.
  • Coordinate and manage the external audit process, acting as a main point of contact for external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements, including the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of management reports generated from Company financial statements for other Finance functions (e.g., CFO, FP&A, Investor Relations) critical to the corporate decision making process.

Internal Controls:

  • Assist with developing and maintaining robust internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of accounting policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current regulations and best practices.
  • Support SOX and internal controls compliance; identify and mitigate risks related to financial reporting and technical accounting.
  • Assist in assessment of external and internal audit findings and assist the Finance team with the development of management action plans, as it relates to accounting policies and remediation plans.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other departments, including Tax, Treasury, Legal, and Operations, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Provide training and support to finance and accounting teams on technical accounting issues and updates.
  • Communicate complex accounting concepts and findings to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in technical accounting and financial reporting.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting function.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • CPA certification
  • 5+ years of experience in a Big4 accounting firm, or Consulting/Advisory or public company experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, equity transactions, capitalized software, inventory, and financial instruments.

Base Salary

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 - $135,000.
    • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting is based on Noom’s estimate as of the date of publication and reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position across all US locations. The actual placement of the candidate within the range is based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, assessment of functional skills and behavioral competencies, scope, and location. This range is not inclusive of any discretionary bonus or equity package.
