THE ROLE

We're looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to come in and join our rapidly growing accounting team. The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for providing internal guidance on all tax-related matters, managing the filing and remittance of sales and use taxes, and ensuring the company is in compliance with various tax and regulatory matters. This role is an excellent match for someone who is detail-oriented and excited about building relationships while also providing consistent insights to drive business efficiency.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare sales and use tax returns on a monthly or quarterly basis across a number of states
  • Assist in the preparation of workpapers for Federal, State and local income and franchise tax returns
  • Respond to state inquiries and tax notices
  • Assist with taxability setup/mapping of all products
  • Maintain documented accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Coordinate and assist with tax audits: sales and use, property tax and others where assistance needed
  • Oversee processes related to bottle deposits, including but not limited to effective onboarding of new customers, timely filing with various states and third-parties, and ensuring the validity of liabilities recognized by the company
  • Provide aid for all audit and external party reporting
  • Provide guidance internally regarding sales and use tax questions or issues
  • Manage exemption certificate process
  • Perform taxability research and provide guidance to business on contracts/agreements tax treatment
  • Support the accounting and other functional teams to address and resolve sales tax issues

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with bottle deposits strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel for business meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, based on business demands.

COMPENSATION: Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $90,000-$100,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
