Position Overview

The Director of eCommerce and Digital Marketing will be responsible for driving revenue growth and brand visibility across all digital channels. This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record of optimizing sales on branded DTC websites, Amazon, and retailer.com platforms such as Target.com and Ulta.com. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in site merchandising, conversion rate optimization (CRO), budget management, and forecasting while leading a lean, high-performing team and managing external agency partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for various aspects of online operations, business planning, and marketing strategies. This includes thoughtful analysis of market trends, strategies to increase brand awareness, insight on increasing digital sales, and ways to improve customer acquisition and retention, capturing larger average order sizes, and managing margin performance.

The position will report to the Chief Marketing Officer or Vice President of Growth Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing and eCommerce strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Optimize sales performance on Amazon, Target.com, Ulta.com, and other key retailer.com platforms.
  • Lead the optimization of the brand's website creating a digital experience that reflects the brand’s vision and encourages a deeper emotional connection with our brand's community, driving repeat engagements and ambassadorship
  • Develop and execute the overarching ecommerce strategy, setting a clear vision that aligns with business objectives and drives significant new acquisition growth.
  • Lead initiatives to refine the digital customer experience, including website performance, chat engagement, lead generation, checkout flows, and the customer portal, ensuring a seamless and frictionless journey.

Team Leadership and People Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a lean, high-impact digital marketing and eCommerce team.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages creativity, accountability, and innovation.

Budget and Spend Management:

  • Oversee digital marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation across paid media, SEO, email, and other channels.
  • Manage ad spend on platforms such as Google Ads, Meta, and Amazon Advertising to maximize ROI.

Performance Optimization and Analytics:

  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop actionable insights to enhance conversion rates, average order value (AOV), and customer lifetime value (CLV).
  • Leverage advanced analytics, web tracking tools, and testing frameworks to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuously optimize the ecommerce funnel.
  • Drive the technology roadmap and execution of the web experience, including SEO, online merchandising, content, site navigation, and analytics.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with retail partners to optimize product placement, pricing, and promotions on retailer.com platforms.
  • Partner with marketing to develop, implement, and/or optimize effective online campaigns, digital marketing, and social media strategies that drive traffic, increase conversion, and expand sales

Agency and Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors to support paid media, SEO, and other digital initiatives.
  • Ensure agency partners deliver measurable results aligned with business objectives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in digital marketing and eCommerce, ideally within beauty, personal care, or CPG brands.
  • Strong background in DTC website management, Amazon optimization, and retailer.com platforms.
  • Expertise in site merchandising, CRO, and digital marketing channels (SEO, paid search, social media, email).
  • Experience managing and optimizing multi-million-dollar budgets and forecasting revenue performance.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Hands-on experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Shopify, etc.) and ad platforms (Google Ads, Amazon Advertising, Meta).
  • Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset, capable of both high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.
  • Proven success in leading ecommerce operations with a track record of driving substantial growth and innovation.
  • Must have hands-on experience in ecommerce tools, including but not limited to: Shopify, Klaviyo/other CRM systems and Google Analytics and reporting tools such as Daasity and Looker.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the ecommerce digital landscape including web applications, site merchandising, SEO, social media, email marketing, and relevant KPI reporting.
  • Expertise in advanced web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) and Heatmap (e.g. Full Story) with proficiency in testing tools (e.g., Optimizely, VWO).
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, digital transformation, and customer experience optimization.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to translate business objectives into effective digital strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to Influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and ability to be flexible in a fast-paced and ever-evolving organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, computer science, or a related field, MBA preferred.
