About the Company: Our client is a fast-growing food company with a dedicated team of less than 50 employees. They are committed to delivering high-quality products to their customers while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture. They are seeking an HR Manager to support their growing team and drive key HR initiatives that align with their mission and values.

Position Summary: The HR Manager will oversee and lead all human resources functions, including recruitment, compliance, employee relations, performance management, and training. Reporting to leadership, the HR Manager will play a vital role in developing and implementing policies and strategies to support the company’s workforce and operational goals.

KKey Responsibilities:

  • Manage HR operations, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and insurance broker relationships
  • Oversee terminations, employee changes, and compliance with employment laws, with a particular focus on California regulations
  • Maintain and enhance HR foundations such as the employee handbook, job descriptions, and performance management processes
  • Partner with leadership to develop a robust and forward-thinking performance management system
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and culture-building activities
  • Work collaboratively to build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging company culture
  • Develop and implement HR policies, processes, and systems to support a partially remote workforce
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives to ensure smooth transitions for new team members
  • Provide strategic insights to leadership to support business goals and workforce needs
  • Travel 5-10% annually to California and Austin for team meetings and events

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within a remote or partially remote environment
  • Required to have strong understanding of California employment law and HR compliance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and build trust across teams
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Experience with HR systems and tools (e.g., Google Drive, Slack)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Ambition to grow into a senior HR leadership role
