JOB TITLE: Division Sales Manager West
REPORTS TO: Chief Revenue Officer
DIRECT REPORTS: 7 total (subject to change)
PRIMARY LOCATION: California
TRAVEL: Up to 50%
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Fluent in English for written, verbal, and presentation skills; additional conversational Spanish is preferred
JOB SUMMARY: The Division Sales Manager West will lead the sales execution strategy and develop and manage the West sales team. The main duties include designing plans to meet sales targets in conjunction with brand and profit targets, evaluating and leading our route-to market and pricing approach, developing and cultivating top-level relationships with trade and distributors, implementing and monitoring processes to measure and evaluate sales and distributor performance, lead and mentor a top-performing sales team and be an advisor to the Chief Revenue Officer that adds long-term value to the company by contributing strategic thinking and executional best-practices. The territory will be outlined by the Chief Revenue Officer and include managing the West and Midwest sales team and direct responsibility for the State of CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies with distributors and large customers,
including development of pricing and programming calendars in conjunction with the marketing team
- Lead West and Midwest sales team members to achieve sales targets
- Direct responsibility for the State of CA
- Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer
- accounts and distributor network
- Negotiate and close agreements with large customers
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts
- Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities
- Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients’ needs
- Develop projections and launch plans for new product launches and ensure the sales team is on
- board for a successful launch
- Share best practices in sales leadership and celebrate successes
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- BA or BS degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred
- 7 to 10 years of sales experience in a sales manager role with direct reports responsibility in the wine industry
- Proven work experience growing profitable sales as a National and/or Divisional sales manager in a larger wine company. Experience working on both the distributor and supplier side preferred
- Experience developing and managing high-performance sale teams
- Experience evaluation/implementing sales forecasting and measurement processes, including analysis of sales performance metrics and evaluation of internal and syndicated data
- Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required with demonstrated abilities in the creation of presentations, promotions, sell sheets and targeted, detailed correspondence.

- Wine and wine culture, varietals, appellations and food pairings are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly works in an office setting unless traveling.
- Travel up to 50% of the time across the territory.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Employee frequently is required to walk and sit.
- Employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Able to comfortably lift and move wine averaging 40 pounds per case.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Must wear personal protective equipment in required areas (Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection, and proper footwear when in production facility and warehouse or while touring outdoor locations).
