Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team and drive excellence in our financial operations. This role is pivotal in maintaining robust financial health, ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting principles, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. As the Controller you will take on advanced accounting responsibilities, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in process improvements and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex financial challenges with confidence and precision. The Controller is instrumental in fostering financial clarity and efficiency, ensuring our organization’s continued growth and success.

Responsibilities Include:

Advanced Financial Management:

  • General Ledger Oversight: Maintain, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GAAP.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing actionable insights and supporting leadership with strategic financial decision-making.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for corrective actions.

Process Improvement & Leadership:

  • System Optimization: Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in accounting processes, leading implementation efforts for new tools and systems.
  • Mentorship: Support and guide junior accounting staff, providing training and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate on the creation and refinement of accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and compliance.

Core Accounting Functions:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable Management: Oversee AP/AR processes, including invoice management, payment processing, and collections, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Vendor & Customer Relations: Manage complex vendor and customer accounts, resolving discrepancies and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Inventory & Cost Analysis: Perform in-depth inventory analysis and collaborate with teams to validate costs, Inventory, CoGS, improve reporting, and identify trends impacting profitability.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and assist in preparing for external audits, including documentation and data validation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, sales, and executive leadership, to support financial strategies and organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with e-commerce tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
