Supply Chain Compliance Manager

Location: Novato, CA

Role Type: Hybrid

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Supply Chain Compliance Manager ensures that all suppliers, ingredients, packaging materials, and logistics partners meet the company's standards for regulatory compliance, food safety, quality, ethical sourcing, and sustainability. This role acts as the key liaison between the supply chain, quality, operations, and food safety teams to maintain compliance across the supply base.

  • Collaborate with Site Quality Manager, Quality Director, and Food Safety Director to build, maintain, and improve holistic QFS programs in support of a food safe, quality-first culture
  • Develop, maintain, and improve a global Supplier Approval and Monitoring Program, including audits, risk assessments, and documentation reviews.
  • Ensure all raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials comply with relevant regulatory (e.g., FDA, USDA, FSMA) and certification requirements (e.g., GFSI, Organic, Non-GMO).
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier documentation, including COAs, allergen declarations, specifications, and third-party audit certificates.
  • Lead supplier audits (on-site or remote) and coordinate corrective actions and follow-ups.
  • Assist in customer and regulatory audits as needed
  • Conduct annual supplier risk assessments for all vendors across business groups.
  • Partner with procurement, QA, and R&D to vet and approve new suppliers, co-manufacturers, and copackers.
  • Monitor and evaluate supply chain partners for compliance with food safety, social responsibility, traceability, and sustainability standards.
  • Liaison between Site QFS personnel and Sourcing teams responsible for addressing supplier non-conformances including documenting root cause analysis, investigation and correction, tabulating supplier/vendor specific metrics and issuing quarterly score cards.
  • Monitor, track and file all Supplier non-conformance events.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with the various cross functional departments to review non-conformance trends.
  • Develop and deliver training to internal teams on supplier compliance protocols and documentation systems.
  • Drives traceability in the supply chain by collaborating with QFS team in establishing recall procedures to align with requirements (FDA) including running trace exercises and maintaining knowledgebase and resources to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement a supplier training strategy for materials intended for DTC distribution to ensure compliance with SQF Food Safety and FSVP and FSMA certifications.
  • Act as a key partner with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives, resolve supplier compliance challenges, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Promptly informs management of known or anticipated problems
  • Exercises tact and discretion in interpersonal contacts; respects confidentiality of privileged information particularly with developing products

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Food Science, Business, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • Minimum [5+] years of experience in supply chain compliance, supplier quality, regulatory, or food safety in a food, beverage, or CPG environment.
  • Working knowledge of GFSI certification schemes (e.g., SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000).
  • Experience with supplier management systems, ERP, or compliance platforms (e.g., TraceGains, FoodLogiQ, SAP).
  • Strong understanding of U.S. food regulations (FDA, FSMA, USDA) and international compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing 1+ direct reports
  • Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor training
  • Familiarity with ethical sourcing frameworks
  • Project Management certifications or training preferred
