Senior Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will play a critical part in managing day-to-day accounting operations, driving accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic initiatives across the business. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to make a visible impact. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams—from operations to sales—to ensure financial accuracy, improve processes, and help build a scalable accounting function as we continue to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle AP including coding, processing and posting approximately 250 vendor invoices per month in NetSuite.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and respond to AP-related emails and vendor inquiries.
  • Assist in processing the annual 1099’s.
  • Assist in the month-end close process including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and accruals.
  • Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to, cash, inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt and accruals.
  • Support the preparation of internal financial reports and variance analysis.
  • Perform high-level reconciliations of inventory subledger to the general ledger in NetSuite.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Cost Accountant to support inventory and margin analysis.
  • Review inventory transactions and coordinate with operations to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain fixed assets and prepaid schedules; ensure proper capitalization, amortization and accounting treatment.
  • Monitor new purchases and work with department leaders for proper classification.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and assist with daily/weekly cash reporting.
  • Provide reporting and analysis to support cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Support ad hoc reporting and analysis for finance and business leadership.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of annual financial statement audits and tax audits.
  • Assist with the collection and organization of documentation and schedules requested by external auditors.
  • Manage staff to include a bookkeeper, an AR Specialist, and a plant cost accountant.
  • Work closely with the operations, supply chain, sales and other departments to gather information required for financial analysis and reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or CPG environment
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience with NetSuite is a strong plus.
  • Proficient in excel, experience with data analysis, pivot tables, and reconciliations
  • CPA or CPA track preferred but not required.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced company with evolving processes.
