THE ROLE
As Thrive Market continues to grow at an incredible rate, you'll have the opportunity to build the data and lead the data analytics function at the heart of the business. We've created a transparent, data-centric environment from the beginning and need a strong leader to drive our analytics initiatives forward.
Using your expertise in analytics and leadership, you will guide the team in transforming data into actionable business insights that drive growth. This isn't just about creating reports – it's about leading a team that delivers impactful analysis and solutions that directly influence business strategy. As our Data Team continues to grow, we need a leader with the passion, experience, skills, and ability to turn our data into actionable insights. As our Data Analytics Manager, you'll provide expertise in bridging business and product needs with data solutions. As we continue to be a data-informed company, you’ll build the team and processes that ensure the quality of the data and the solutions provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analytics Leadership
- Drive and sequence strategic analysis projects that deliver measurable business impact, ensuring alignment between team efforts and key business objectives
- Establish and actively monitor success metrics, project milestones, and KPIs through:
- Regular progress tracking and early risk identification
- Proactive roadblock resolution and resource reallocation
- Transparent stakeholder communication about project status and timeline adjustments
- Balance strategic initiatives and operational needs by:
- Developing frameworks to evaluate and prioritize competing requests
- Creating sustainable processes that maximize team effectiveness on high-impact work
- Oversee complex analyses that influence strategic business and product decisions:
- Build and maintain critical dashboards and ad-hoc analyses that drive actionable insights across business functions
- Establish and maintain analytics best practices, setting high standards for quality and consistency in all deliverables
- Own end-to-end analytics solutions, from problem definition through implementation of recommendations
- Drive and evangelize data-first culture through education and best practice sharing across the organization
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Champion data-driven decision-making by partnering with stakeholders to:
- Translate business needs into clear analytical requirements and deliverables
- Set realistic expectations and timelines for complex analytical initiatives
- Align on success metrics and project scope
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships through:
- Regular communication on key analytics initiatives and their business impact
- Joint prioritization of projects based on business value and resource requirements
- Clear escalation paths for time-sensitive requests
- Partner with Product and Data Engineering teams to:
- Ensure analytics infrastructure supports product development initiatives
- Align on technical requirements and dependencies
- Drive efficient cross-functional collaboration
- Lead data stewardship initiatives and promote data literacy across the organization
- Create processes for data access control and appropriate data usage
- Technical Leadership
- Drive analytical excellence by:
- Leading complex analyses that translate business questions into actionable insights
- Guiding methodology selection and analytical approach for strategic initiatives
- Establishing scalable frameworks for analysis and experimentation
- Ensure technical quality through:
- Development of consistent analytical standards and best practices
- Implementation of efficient code review and knowledge-sharing processes
- Clear documentation requirements that balance thoroughness with team efficiency
- Partner with Data Engineering to:
- Align on data infrastructure needs and technical dependencies
- Optimize data models for analytical use cases
- Ensure seamless integration of new data sources
- Lead the design of scalable analytics solutions that:
- Support both quick insights and deep analytical work
- Enable self-service analytics where appropriate
- Drive business growth through data-driven decision-making
- Establish and maintain data governance standards that promote both innovation and reliability
- Team Leadership
- Build a high-performing analytics team by:
- Providing clear direction while fostering trust and autonomy
- Creating opportunities for analysts to lead strategic initiatives
- Establishing regular feedback loops and growth discussions

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in statistics, computer science, operations research, computational physics, or a related field7+ years of work experience with a proven track record in data science and data analytics
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing senior analysts with a focus on career growth
- Experience successfully leading technical teams through major infrastructure transitions
- Track record of building and optimizing analytics workflows in fast-paced environments
- Proven success in managing complex stakeholder relationships and competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational needs
- Track record of delivering measurable business impact through data-driven initiatives
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one high-level programming language (Python, R, Java)
- Experience with Snowflake or similar DB, large data ETL, and advanced SQL
- Strong foundation in statistics and multivariate regression
- Experience with data visualization tools (Domo, Tableau, or similar)
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to empower teams while maintaining accountability
- Experience implementing right-sized data governance that enables rather than hinders analytics work
- Excellence in structured thinking and problem-solving approach
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and align stakeholders on complex technical initiatives
- Proven ability to clearly articulate data stories to business and technical audiences
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in e-commerce and/or subscription businesses
- Experience with large-scale data analysis in Hive or SparkProficiency in web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel)
- Experience with A|B testing

JOB INFORMATION
- Compensation Description - The base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $190,000/Per Year.
- Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and geographic location.
