JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly effective, data driven, results oriented Director of Quality Assurance to join our team. The position will work with our co-packers across the U.S. (mostly Midwest), spending the majority of time working with these co-packers in their manufacturing operations. The position’s main responsibility will be to work collaboratively with our co-packing partners to ensure that all of Good Culture’s quality standards, process standards, SOP’s, sampling requirements and testing requirements are meeting the agreed upon operating standards and procedures necessary to deliver “gold standard” product every day at all co-man locations. The Director of QA will have 2 direct reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the co-packer senior management teams to make the proper investments in people, process, materials and equipment to correct or improve quality, network consistency and process.
  • Supporting co-packers by verifying that quality control activities are put in place correctly.
  • Monitor, audit and approve facilities and manufacturing operations for conformance with established procedures and requirements. Major focus on the auditing of agreed upon product manufacturing process SOP’s.
  • Provide ongoing training and continuous improvement strategies to get all co-packers delivering “gold standard” Good Culture products as measured both quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • Review and ensure adherence to the master sanitation schedule (MSS) and PM programs of each co-packer to ensure that all SQF pre-requisite programs are being executed to ensure quality for our product.
  • Coordinate and execute tasks and projects with our co-packer related to quality.
  • Investigate quality related customer complaints and non-conformance issues. Management of non-conformances through a CAPA program ensuring closure and ongoing compliance with corrective actions.
  • Lead and compile sensory, microbial, product specification and product retains statistical data to ensure compliance or identify any non-conformance trends.
  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality, industry regulatory and labeling requirements.
  • Ensure direct reports manage all policies and procedures properly while ensuring all our co-mans work is according to applicable standards and regulations and hit Good Culture Gold Standard.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Dairy experience required.
  • B.S. in Food Science or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in food manufacturing (preferably dairy).
  • Lab or production experience in a food plant a plus (preferably dairy).
  • Lab or production experience in a cheese plant a plus.
  • Certifications including Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Continuous Improvement, GMP’s, HACCP, SQF a plus.
  • Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience.
  • Experience with implementation of corrective action programs based off of root cause analysis.
  • Sanitation/CIP knowledge and experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and SPC for Microsoft Excel.
  • Up to 50% travel is required.
